Award-winning filmmaker Donncha Gilmore’s work has screened all over the world at various festivals including Jecheon International in South Korea, Indiecork Film Festival, Fastnet Short Film Festival, The Glasgow Horror Film Festival, and The Paris Short Film Festival. Donncha has received many grants for his work such as the arts council’s Youth Ensemble Scheme, AIB’s Alumni award, and TCD’s Visual and Performing Arts grant.
In 2015, Donncha’s Arts Council funded Bonsoir Luna garnered significant media attention as it was the first Irish language musical film ever made. There were dozens of articles written about the film and it screened in festivals all over the world. The film continues to screen to this day, most recently at the Scéal Eile film festival in Brussels.
Most recently Donncha directed a short film entitled The Banshee, a concept short for a feature film. The film starred Caoilfhionn McDonnell (Cherrytree) and Peadar Cox (Song of Granite, Black 47) and is starting its 2019 festival run shortly.
Donncha has worked as a corporate director and videographer for brands all over the world. While living and working in New York, Donncha directed online commercials for brands like Thrivent International and Kodak. Most recently Donncha has been working in Dublin, directing online ads for clients like McVitie’s, Carr’s and Paddy Power.
