Caring is Creepy is a narrative short centering on two electronic dance producers, Jasper (Michael-David Mckernan) and Rich (Dylan Coburn Gray). Jasper feels disillusioned by their apathetic audience and the drug use which occurs during their gigs, he feels their music is appreciated on a wholly superficial level by club goers and is longing for a change. He meets an acoustic singer songwriter named Kim Little (Karen Cowley) at gig. while her audience is sparse, they seem to be engaged and supportive. After her set he sparks up a conversation and asks her to collaborate which she agrees to. The film also explores the nature of sampling and the process of creating new work from existing material, the use of raising profile through online marketing and the disconnect this can also cause between the audience and listener. The film features a number of original pieces from Josh Reichental and Karen Cowley the lead singer of Wyvern Lingo. Some of these original pieces that have been remixed/ Sampled by Philip Hickey, musician and sound designer.
